After a steamy Georgia summer, many of us have visions of pumpkin spice baked goods and college football dancing in our heads. The time is almost upon us where we can turn off the air conditioning and move our living space beyond the living room into the great outdoors.
Now that the countdown to cooler months has begun, you might be considering sprucing up your backyard to enhance your outdoor enjoyment.
If you’re not looking to do an entire backyard overhaul, consider adding a fire pit for some flair. There’s perhaps no better way to get your family and friends together than the addition of one of these easily customizable fire features.
There are no rules when deciding which style is best for you and your family. Be it rustic, modern, immaculate, or simple, all fire pits serve the same purpose – gathering loved ones.
Because they are so easy to personalize it’s clear to see why fire pits have so quickly become a favorite backyard element. There are many different routes you can take, styles to choose from, and creative license is encouraged.
For example, do you want a permanent or portable structure? Depending on your budget, backyard size, and desired look, this is an important element when picking the perfect fire pit. From a metal basin surrounded by brick pavers to an elaborate structure, the options are endless for the interested fire pit owner.
“Fire pits can really range in design and price depending on what you want,” explains Steve Noles of Noles Irrigation and Landscaping. Whether you opt for a simple structure or an elaborate stacked stone pit with all the bells and whistles, Noles says the price can be anywhere from $1,000 to $15,000.
“It’s a focal area where people can sit and be social. It’s great entertainment for the kids and you can relax with a cocktail. It just creates a great gathering area,” says Noles.
Take advantage of the fact that fire pits not only are a great place to gather, but they are also eye-catching. Thoughtful placement of this focal point will add to the overall ambiance of your backyard.
Make sure to pair your fire pit with enough comfortable seating for everyone. Once again, the style options are endless, however you want to make sure there’s enough room for the whole family to cozy up for a s’more… or two… or three.
“It’s such a great place for families and friends to gather. A fire pit will extend your patio through all the seasons and serve multiple purposes,” says Casey Thornton, Owner of Southern Spa & Patio.
Fire pits allow you to extend your living space outside, host a neighborhood get-together, or enjoy a more intimate evening with a glass of wine around the warmth of a fire.
The options and opportunities to gather are endless with this backyard pick-me-up.
